A-dor-a-ble! My son did not do the cake on the face thing but we have video of him fastidiously enjoying every bit (it was his first time having sugar).
I had one of my daughters who was like that she did not want to get dirty so she just picked at it.

Thanks for the comments on my blue grand daughter. She was a mess to clean up but she had fun!
